Women have always worked in so called non traditional jobs to some degree, but until the last few decades were mainly un-talked about. Today, any industry or trade where less than 25% of the workforce is female is considered as non traditional. Women are found working in non traditional jobs such as: manufacturing, machine operating, truck driving, construction, building trades, mechanics, welding, carpentry, brick laying, heavy equipment operating, forklift operating, law enforcement, plumbing, farming, ranching, steel working...and of course, the women found in offices of warehouses, trucking companies and construction offices working as secretaries or clerks. Roughly 7% of the 3.5 million commerical drivers in the nation are female. Women are driving those trucks, dozers, back hoes and cement trucks. Women are driving those school buses, limos and hauling everything from A to Z...and getting paid for it! Satin and Steel Sisterhood is here for you to find information, share information and to socialize with those of both genders who understand the world of trucking and working in non traditional fields. I hope you enjoy Satin and Steel Sisterhood! See you in the forums! Sandy Long |
